Need some Christmas money making ideas to earn some extra cash for the holidays?
I can totally relate, especially this year after losing my job just before Christmas. Not the best circumstances for a single mom right before the holidays, right?
But, no worries. That’s where having a kick-butt side hustle comes in.
If you’re ready to earn some extra cash for the holidays, check out these Christmas money making ideas you can start today.
Start a blog
Of course, this would be my first recommendation. You are on my blog after all, right? Check out this post to see my first month blogging goals.
Sign up with Cashback Apps
If you’re spending money online, make sure you aren’t leaving money on the table. Cashback apps are a great way to maximize those Christmas dollars. Some of these sites will give you $10 immediately upon signing up, cha ching! Check them out:
Sell your old stuff on Craigslist, Ebay, Amazon, LetGo, or Facebook Swap & Sell
If your house is anything like mine, you probably have plenty of things lying around or in a closet somewhere that could be sold for some extra cash. Selling them on Facebook swap & sell or Letgo can be a great way to make a few extra dollars and get rid of some clutter.
Make and sell your own crafts on Etsy
I have personally made a nice chunk of change selling crafty handmade items on Etsy. If you are creative, use those skills to start an etsy store and sell your crafts.
Be a Virtual Assistant
This is one of those side hustles that anyone can start. What skills and strengths do you have? Capitalize on those skills and position yourself as a virtual assistant. You’d be surprised some of the tasks people use a virtual assistant for.
Rent out your place on AirBnB
Traveling over the holidays? Rent your space out on AirBnB and earn some money while you’re away on vacay!
Clean Houses
Housecleaning is an easy job, with very little cost or skill involved to start. Offer to clean a few friend or family members’ homes to score some extra cash for Christmas.
Deliver food with DoorDash, Waitr, ChefTaxi, or similar
If you own a car, sign up as a food delivery driver with DoorDash or similar food delivery apps. It’s a quick and easy job, and the pay can be decent if you get some good tips.
Online Surveys
Browsing online? Sign up with one of these companies and get paid to take online surveys. Do your research, since not all online survey companies pay great. But still, quick and easy money right from home…I’m in.

Be a Pet Sitter
All pet owners know the struggle of what to do with the pets when you have to go out of town or work long days. If you love animals, offer to pet sit or be a dog walker.
Proofread
Do grammar and punctuation errors make you cringe? If so, start a proofreading side hustle. Check out Caitlyn Pyle’s course on proofreading here to learn more.
Data Entry
Are you quick and accurate on a keyboard? If so, a job in data entry might work for you. You may have to spend some time searching online for this one, but data entry can be a solid option for a flexible work-from-home job.
Transcription
Transcriptionists listen to audio and video recordings and convert them to text. If you can type quickly, this might be a perfect side hustle for you.
Babysit
If you’re good with kids and babies, snag a babysitting or nanny job. The pay for babysitter/nanny jobs really varies depending on who you work for.
Sell baked goods
Got mad cooking skills? Why not monetize that? Sell baked goods, casserole dishes, or even homegrown produce and make a few extra dollars.
